Casa Castillo- Monastrell
2020-After the manual harvest, the grapes for the Casa Castillo Jumilla Monastrell undergo natural fermentation in stainless steel tanks or underground concrete vats after which it is aged large oak barrels for about nine months. When poured into the glass you’ll find a dark cherry red core that only subtly lightens up around the rim. The aromas are packed with dark fruits, leather and a touch of earth. If you close your eyes while you take your first sip, what should come to mind are all the dark fruits, plums, blackberries, dark cherries along w/ a gentle backdrop of rawhide and smoke. Giving this a brief chill is a perfect way to enjoy this wine by the glass. You’ll also find it a great paring w/ your pick of game, lamb, just about any kind of beef as well as hearty pasta dishes.
2022 Botani Old Vine Moscatel Sierras de Malaga
Winemaker Notes: 100% Muscat of Alexandria, the oldest variety in the Muscat family and one of the few remaining genetically unmodified vitis vinifera cultivars remaining in the world today. This wine inspired a new generation of dry aromatic white wines produced from Spain's Mediterranean coast.
Heinrich Naked Red
Heinrich Naked Red is a red wine coupage of the Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and Saint Laurent varieties, made by the Weingut Heinrich winery under the Weinland Österreich denomination in Burgenland, Austria. Heinrich Naked Red is made from bunches from both sides of Lake Neusiedl. On the west side, the limestone and shale of the Leithaberg slopes predominate, while on the east side of the lake, on the Parndorfer plains, the grapes grow on humus-covered soils. The grapes are harvested by hand from mid-September to early October and when they reach the winery they ferment with their own yeasts and macerate with their skins in wooden and stainless steel fermentation vats. The resulting wine is aged for more than a year in wooden barrels. The Heinrich winery never ceases to surprise us with its productions. This time we’re presented with a wine which starts from simplicity but to achieve it requires the ability to capture the exact point in order to obtain a fresh vintage, vibrant acidity and a moderate amount of alcohol. Undoubtedly this velvety red wine is the gateway to the varied universe of wines Weingut Heinrich produces with passion and respect for nature, naked wines which are sure to impress.
Tascante Ghiaia Nera 2022
A very pretty, perfumed, young Etna rosso with plenty of fresh flowers, focus and finesse. Medium-bodied, it has fine tannins and a long, bright finish. Best ever? Drink now or hold.
Winemaker Notes
Taste the power and freshness of the legendary Mt. Etna with Tascante Ghiaia Nera. This cuvee of Nerello Mascalese is sourced from three biodiverse terraced vineyards - Piano Dario, Rampante and Sciaranuova - situated on the north side of the mountain. Surrounded by chestnut and downy oak trees, these volcanic sites produce wines of supreme balance, encapsulating the unique character of Etna's DOC wines. Ghiaia Nera is their most authentic expression.
Ghiaia Nera is Tenuta Tascante’s demonstration of the possibilities for Nerello Mascalese from black volcanic soils. The name means “black gravel,” which describes the volcanic soil of the vineyard Subtle aromas of orange peel, cherries, and dried flowers follow through to a medium body, fine tannins and a refined, subtle finish. Aged in 25hl oak cask for 12 months.
